Will Power Taking Direct Aim at Nifty 50 in New Surroundings
2 HOURS AGO
Yes, two-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Will Power joined Andretti Global to refresh and extend his time in the sport. But he had more motivation than that.
He signed a multiyear contract to win races. Five would be ideal, he said.
Why five? Because he has a target in mind.
Fifty career wins.
Only three drivers in history have earned as many in their career. A.J. Foyt won a record 67 races. Scott Dixon’s total stands at 59. Mario Andretti tallied 52. That’s the list.
Power can get there with five more wins. He believes the mark is within reach.
“That’s the goal, yeah,” he said. “To get to 50 would be very nice. That’s possible, too.”
He’s done the math.
“Get three wins this year, or four,” he said. “You have a really good year (in 2026), you’re right there.”

The length of Power’s contract with Andretti Global has not been revealed, but it’s standard for a veteran driver to get two confirmed years with an option for a third. Since becoming a full-time driver in 2006, the Australian has averaged 2.25 wins per season.
Last year, Andretti Global won three races, all with Kyle Kirkwood at the wheel. Power won at Portland for his only tally of the season with Team Penske, but it’s not a stretch to think he can reach victory lane with his new team as he has won races in 18 of his 20 seasons, a mark tied with Foyt and second only to Dixon’s 23.
It’s worth noting that Power will be among the favorites to win the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on Sunday, March 1 (noon ET, FOX, FOX One, FOX Deportes, FOX Sports app, INDYCAR Radio Network). He is a two-time race winner of the event and has been the pole sitter a record nine times.
Power also has another number to pursue – a combined total of series wins and poles. Foyt reached 120 with 67 wins and 53 poles. Andretti assembled 119 with 52 wins and 67 poles. Power stands at 116 factoring in a record 71 poles. No other driver has amassed as many.
