Scott McLaughlin made quick work of a shortened pre-qualifying practice for the Mission Foods Grand Prix of Monterey on Saturday, taking the top spot as he looks to end a dry spell of trips to victory lane.

McLaughlin led with a best lap of 1 minute, 10.3014 seconds in the No. 3 DEX Team Penske Chevrolet in a session shortened to just 25 minutes due to extensive catch fence repair after a car in a support series crashed at the top of the famous Zanardi Corkscrew turn complex. McLaughlin seeks his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory since August 2024 in Milwaukee.
