Pato O’Ward Staying in No. 5, Ryan Hunter-Reay Back in No. 31 at Indy

The Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team announced Sept. 23 its driver numbers for its new lineup entering the 2027 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.

Pato O'Ward will continue in the No. 5, while Scott Dixon will take over the No. 6 entry, and Felix Rosenqvist will drive the No. 7. In the team's additional Indy 500 entry, Ryan Hunter-Reay will continue with the No. 31 next May.

Additionally, Arrow McLaren unveiled a new font style for car numbers in line with the rebrand McLaren Racing rolled out Sept. 22 that will go into effect in January 2027.

"We're excited to begin our next chapter in 2027," Team Principal Tony Kanaan said. "This team has continued to raise the bar year after year, and with Pato, Scott, Felix and Ryan in the cockpit, we believe we have the tools to achieve our goals. While fans will have to wait a little longer to see the 2027 liveries, today's announcement offers a fun glimpse of what lies ahead."

Dixon is set to sport a new car number in INDYCAR SERIES competition for the first time in more than two decades after competing in his familiar No. 9 for all but one of the past 24 seasons (No. 1 in 2004). Fresh off his Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge victory in 2026, Rosenqvist returns to the No. 7 entry, the same number he drove during his first two seasons with Arrow McLaren from 2021-22.

The 2027 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season starts Sunday, March 7 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
