Editor's Note: Power Rankings is a feature published after every NTT INDYCAR SERIES race in which INDYCAR.com staff writer Eric Smith ranks the top 10 drivers based on recent and season-long performance, statistical trends and the eye test from race weekends.

Alex Palou continued doing Alex Palou things, earning his sixth victory of the season last Sunday in the OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland. Palou extended his points lead to 110 over Kyle Kirkwood.

The Andretti Global trio earned top-six finishes at Portland, led by Will Power finishing third, Kyle Kirkwood fifth and Marcus Ericsson sixth. Each driver continues to rise in the Power Rankings, as does Juncos Hollinger Racing’s Rinus VeeKay after scoring his third top-five finish of the season by coming home fourth.

Here are the other drivers’ rankings heading into the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham on Sunday, Aug. 16 (noon ET, FOX, FOX One, INDYCAR Radio powered by OnlyBulls).

↓10. Christian Lundgaard (No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, Last Rank: 7)

Lundgaard’s four-race top-10 streak ended with a 16th-place finish at Nashville, but he rebounded by climbing from last (25th) to ninth at Portland. He owns six top-10 finishes in his last eight starts, highlighted by two wins, on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and Road America. He also won the pole and finished second at Mid-Ohio. This is Lundgaard’s lowest ranking since he was ninth following the March 15 race on the streets of Arlington.

↔9. Marcus Ericsson (No. 28 Delaware Life Honda, Last Rank: 9)

Ericsson finished sixth in the last two races, at Nashville and Portland, for his third and fourth top-eight finishes in the last six races. That stretch also includes a runner-up finish at World Wide Technology Raceway, where he led a race-high 114 laps. He’s also ninth in points.

↑8. Will Power (No. 26 TWG AI Honda, Last Rank: NR)

Power returns to the Power Rankings after dropping out following a 20th-place finish in Nashville. He started and finished third Sunday at Portland. Power has four top-eight finishes in the last five races after recording just one in the previous eight in his first season with Andretti Global. He jumped from 14th to 11th in points.

↑7. Rinus VeeKay (No. 76 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet, Last Rank: 10)

VeeKay finished fourth at Portland, his third fourth-place finish in the last five races. He was 12th at Nashville despite showing top-10 speed throughout the weekend. He remains 10th in points.

↓6. Scott McLaughlin (No. 3 Sonsio Vehicle Protection Chevrolet, Last Rank: 5)

McLaughlin finished seventh for the third consecutive year at Portland and earned his fourth top-seven finish in the last five races this season. He recorded three in the previous six.

↓5. Josef Newgarden (No. 2 Astemo Team Penske Chevrolet, Last Rank: 4)

Newgarden remains in the top five following an eighth-place finish at Portland, his fifth top-10 finish in the last six races despite still dealing with a foot/lower leg injury suffered in the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. The two-time series champion also owns victories this season at Phoenix Raceway and World Wide Technology Raceway. This marks his fourth appearance in the top five this season. He debuted at No. 1 following his Phoenix victory.

↑4. Felix Rosenqvist (No. 60 SiriusXM Honda, Last Rank: 8)

Rosenqvist leaps to fourth after winning the NTT P1 Award and leading 33 of the 110 laps at Portland. He finished second for his second consecutive top-five finish, following a fifth-place result at Nashville. He has three top-eight finishes in the last four races and five in the last seven, including his May 24 victory in the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.

↓3. David Malukas (No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, Last Rank: 2)

Malukas showed top-10 speed in both practice sessions at Portland and qualified ninth but dropped to 15th following a six-position grid penalty for an unapproved engine change at Nashville. He was handed a two-position penalty early in the race for blocking Alexander Rossi, dropping him to 17th. Malukas rallied to finish 12th. Still, he has 10 top-eight finishes in his last 12 starts, including two podiums in the three races entering Portland.

↑2. Kyle Kirkwood (No. 27 Sam’s Club Honda, Last Rank: 3)

Kirkwood climbed from seventh to fourth at Portland for his 20th career top-five finish and eighth of the season. This is his sixth consecutive appearance in the top five of the Power Rankings and 12th overall this season.

↔1. Alex Palou (No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, Last Rank: 1)

Palou earned his second consecutive victory and 25th of his career at Portland. He has 51 podiums in 111 career starts and has topped the Power Rankings for 10 consecutive races and 42 of the 45 editions since the feature debuted at the start of the 2024 season.
