Scott Dixon Finds Leading Pace in Warmup at Road America

Scott Dixon may be closer to a solution for his sluggish season after leading the warmup Sunday for the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America presented by AMR.
Six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Dixon entered the 10th of 18 events this season mired in 12th in the standings, with one third-place finish. He has finished sixth or better in the standings every season since 2006.

Dixon, who is starting 11th, led the final practice with a time of 1 minute, 44.8508 seconds in the No. 9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, grabbing the top spot on his one of his final flying laps around the 14-turn, 4.014-mile road course.

The Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian duo of Marcus Armstrong and Felix Rosenqvist should be a factor in the race, based on their performances in NTT P1 Award qualifying Saturday and the 30-inute warmup today.
Armstrong, who is starting third, was second quickest in the warmup at 1:44.9990 in the team’s No. 66 Honda. Rosenqvist, starting fourth, was third at 1:45.0214 in the No. 60 Honda.
Nolan Siegel continued arguably his best weekend of the season by ending up fourth at 1:45.1340 in the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. Siegel will start a season-best seventh.
AJ Foyt Racing rookie Caio Collet also continued a strong event by rounding out the top five at 1:45.2678 in the No. 4 Combitrans Amazonia Chevrolet. Collet will start a career-best eighth.
NTT P1 Award winner and series points leader Alex Palou was 20th of 25 cars in the final practice, turning a best lap of 1:46.2725. Palou is the reigning winner of this event and aiming for his record-setting fourth INDYCAR SERIES win at this track since 2020.
