INDYCAR Fast Six: What's trending in @INDYCAR from Oct. 11-17
OCT 18, 2017
INDYCAR's "Fast Six" is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.
#DANWHELDON
Oct. 16 will never go by on the INDYCAR calendar without thoughts of Dan Wheldon, the two-time Indy 500 winner we lost on that day in 2011. We saw hundreds of posts honoring him this week, including:
THE DIXONS: NOT IN A CORNER
Scott and Emma Dixon nearly recreated a classic scene from the guilty-pleasure flick “Dirty Dancing” last weekend while balancing on a log in the woods. For your next act, might we suggest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpmILPAcRQo
THAT ONE TIME IN CHAMP CAR
In honor of INDYCAR’s return to Portland International Raceway in 2018, Graham Rahal dug up a decade-old photo of current stars who raced at the last Indy car there in 2007. Such innocence on the faces of Will Power, Sebastien Bourdais, Simon Pagenaud and Rahal!
MICHAEL RAHAL, 1924-2017
Rahal family patriarch and a member of “The Greatest Generation,” Michael Rahal, was buried at Arlington National Cemetery just outside Washington, D.C. In addition to seeding the family’s love for racing, Rahal was a World War II veteran – a torpedoman on the USS Macdonough destroyer.
Off to Arlington National Cemetery in the morning to lay my grandpa to rest. I feel a great sense of sadness, but also of pride. Miss u MGR

IT'S FAMILY BUSINESS
If you think you can drive like an Andretti, you have many more opportunities to prove it. Andretti Indoor Karting and Games opened its third location this week – an Orlando, Florida, location that joins others in Georgia. It looks like the whole family got together to celebrate and, as usual, Mario gets style points for his footwear.
How many Andrettis can you name in this photo? This ✈️ is southbound! Looking forward to a great day with @AndrettiOrlando! #AllAndretti pic.twitter.com/7nLouJxPA1

“I WANT YOU TO SAY … ‘I … LOVE … CREPES.’”
Try though he did, Simon Pagenaud is no NASCAR driver. But we’re glad to see he’s finally embracing his inner Jean Girard.
My best #Nascar driver impression! Big suit, flat hat, big steering wheel & of course french flair! Do I look like Jean Girard? @Team_Penske pic.twitter.com/fM0jPnyUIb
