When disaster occurs, count on Helio Castroneves to remain positive.

Even when Hurricane Irma threatened his Fort Lauderdale, Florida, home as he prepared for Sunday's championship race in the Verizon IndyCar Series, Castroneves expressed gratitude on social media channels. Seems the three-time Indianapolis 500 winner lost a palm tree in the hurricane but not much else, including his good attitude.

Tony Kanaan, who evacuated from his home in the village of Key Biscayne (near Miami) as Irma approached, posted a picture of his flooded street adding, "I always wanted to have waterfront property."

As the water lapped at their front steps, Tony and wife found higher ground and U2's Joshua Tree tour in one of their favorite cities, Indianapolis.

The weather is better in California, where Simon Pagenaud will defend his championship Sunday in the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma. Taking advantage, Pagenaud is swimming and long boarding in the sunshine with his beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Norman.
