INDYCAR Fast Six: What's Trending in @INDYCAR from April 5-11
APR 12, 2017
INDYCAR's "Fast Six" is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.
The stars came out for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach and, along with them, came a stream of popular social media posts. It was all so fabulous and entertaining that we’ve decided to dedicate this entire Fast Six to a look back.
‘Brand new respect for this sport’
Looks like New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman – the man of whose fourth-quarter reception in Super Bowl LI is already legendary – got his hair blown back a little – OK, maybe a lot – when racing icon Mario Andretti took him on the ride of a lifetime to start the race. The two champions helped pace the field in the custom, two-seat Indy car known as the Honda Fastest Seat in Sports.
brand new respect for this sport. great day at the track. thanks for having me @IndyCar #speedin pic.twitter.com/IsW5OZxHYN

On the grid
Who knew actress and model Chloe Grace Moretz, who played “Carrie” in the 2013 remake of the legendary horror film and has been featured in Vogue and Elle magazines, and AJ Foyt Racing driver Conor Daly were friends? Not us. But they are and she looked to be having a blast in his garage and on the grid next to his car before the race.

Among Conor’s other famous pals is Justine Ezarik, “iJustine” on the Interwebs, who not only made the scene at Long Beach, but also made a YouTube video about her adventure.
Went to the Toyota Grand Prix in Long Beach yesterday... then came home and played it in Forza 😂

And she added a couple of race day snaps to her Instagram, too.
Dancing in the streets
James Hinchcliffe had his “Dancing with the Stars” pals dancing in the street when he won the race right before their eyes. Since the show is LA-based, it was convenient for the stars to visit Hinchcliffe, who nearly won Season 23 with pro Sharna Burgess last year. Burgess stopped in to wish him luck and Terra Jole’ of “Little Women: LA” was ecstatic when Hinch won the race. Her Twitter account shows it.

In celebration, Burgess gave us a flashback to the start of Season 23. We were glad.
And in Marco Andretti’s corner …
Meanwhile, Marco Andretti’s long-time pal, comedian Jeff Ross, was tweeting his support for the Andretti Autosport driver. It looks like he liked the firesuit he wore for his the two-seat Indy car thrill ride with Mario Andretti.

Sunday funday
Over and over, singer/songwriter Leona Lewis also tweeted her excitement about race day. She makes us smile.

Urban Outlaw in TK’s pit
Famous Porsche 911 collector and author Magnus Walker spent race weekend with Tony Kanaan’s team. Walker and Kanaan have clearly bonded – they were taking selfies together in January at the Race of Champions in Miami. Magnus’ Instagram feed is so much fun and his dreadlocks so cool that we hope to see him again at the 101st Indy 500!
