Get to Know Pato

Pato O’Ward begins his ninth NTT INDYCAR SERIES season in 2026, returning for his sixth year with Arrow McLaren in the No. 5 Chevrolet. The 26-year-old comes off a career-best 2025 season, finishing second in the standings with six podiums — matching his 2024 total — and claiming wins at Iowa and Toronto.

Born in Monterrey, Mexico and raised in San Antonio, Texas, O’Ward now resides in Indianapolis. An INDY NXT by Firestone graduate and 2018 champion, he has recorded nine wins, eight poles and 32 podiums across 106 career starts in the development series. He also serves as an F1 reserve driver for McLaren and has won the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Prototype Challenge title, two class victories at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and a Prototype Challenge class win at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Off track, O’Ward focuses on boxing and weight training, and is a self-proclaimed foodie who enjoys chilaquiles and sushi. His Corgi, Norbi, often travels with him to races.
