Josh Mason has signed with Abel Motorsports to compete in the 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone series.

Mason, 21, will be behind the wheel of the No. 21 Abel Motorsports entry and will make his debut March 8-10 on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.

British driver Mason brings considerable experience to Abel Motorsports, having spent most of his racing career on the European formula car ladder. He competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2023 and raced in the Euroformula Open Championship in 2022 and 2023. He won four races in Euroformula Open and recorded two wins in British Formula 3 while competing in that series in 2018 and 2019.

This will be Mason’s first season of racing in the United States.

“It’s another chapter in my career, now racing in the States for the first time, so it’s going to be a new experience and challenge for me, but I can’t wait to get started and do it with Abel Motorsports,” Mason said. “I am really looking forward to experiencing the American racing culture and to get to experience the corkscrew at Laguna (WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca), which looks mega.

“Overall, my goal for 2024 is to work hard with Abel Motorsports to extract the best performance and succeed together.”

Mason joins returnee Jacob Abel and series rookie Yuven Sundaramoorthy in the Abel lineup this season, as the team grows to three cars.
