Starting second in the No. 27 NAPA AUTO PARTS Honda, Rossi passed pole sitter Colton Herta on the first of 55 laps on the 14-turn, 4.014-mile permanent road course and was never headed. The Andretti Autosport driver picked up his second win of 2019 and seventh of his four-year NTT IndyCar Series career.

Rossi crossed the finish line 28.4391 seconds ahead of Team Penske’s Will Power, the 2016 Road America winner who had a season-best finish Sunday. The triumph also allowed Rossi to close unofficially within seven points of the championship lead behind Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, last year’s Road America winner who finished third on Sunday.

"It was one of those days when everything went right," team owner Michael Andretti said. "We've got the momentum now, so hopefully we can keep it going."

Rossi constantly built his lead throughout the race. The only lap he didn’t lead went to Graham Rahal when Rossi made the last of his three pit stops. Rahal led Lap 42, when he made his last stop, and Rossi zoomed back in front for good.

The race ran caution-free for the 10th time in its 29-race history.

The next NTT IndyCar Series race is the Honda Indy Toronto on the streets of Exhibition Place, the 11th of 17 races on this year's schedule. It airs live at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14 on NBCSN and the Advance Auto Parts INDYCAR Radio Network.
