WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca

IndyCar Series teams have a busy week of on-track activity planned for early February, and fans can benefit the most from it.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, host for the 2019 season finale race, announced Friday that a private team test on Friday, Feb. 8 featuring at least 11 cars will take place at the storied permanent road course near Monterey, California. It will mark the first time in more than 14 years that the roar of Indy cars will be heard on the 11-turn, 2.238-mile circuit.

That test comes just ahead of a series-wide open test at Circuit of the Americas. The two-day affair – scheduled for Feb. 12-13 – on the popular road course in Austin, Texas, will include all full-season IndyCar Series entries and comes just five weeks before INDYCAR makes its highly anticipated COTA race debut.

Presently, the Laguna Seca test is scheduled to include drivers from AJ Foyt Racing, Andretti Autosport, Chip Ganassi Racing and Team Penske – meaning the likes of past series champions Scott Dixon, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Tony Kanaan, Josef Newgarden, Simon Pagenaud and Will Power will be on track.

General admission tickets for the Laguna Seca test are $20 and may be purchased at WeatherTechRaceway.com or at the gate. Those who have already purchased tickets to the INDYCAR Grand Prix of Monterey, the 2019 finale set for Sept. 22, receive a discounted price of $10 for the Feb. 8 test. Laguna Seca season-ticket holders receive free admission to the test.

Details on public admission to the COTA open test have yet to be announced.

The 2019 IndyCar Series schedule consists of 17 races, beginning with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 10. The INDYCAR Classic at Circuit of the Americas is the second race on the calendar, on March 24. The INDYCAR Grand Prix of Monterey closes the season on Sept. 22 in what will be the first Indy car race at the track since 2004.
