Preferred Freezer returns as Ed Carpenter Racing sponsor

Ed Carpenter Racing announced today that Preferred Freezer Services will continue as a primary sponsor on the team’s No. 21 Chevrolet for four Verizon IndyCar Series races this season, including the 102nd Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil on May 27.

The car piloted by third-year driver Spencer Pigot will also fly the blue and white Preferred Freezer Services colors at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach (April 15), INDYCAR Grand Prix on the ndianapolis Motor Speedway road course (May 12) and Honda Indy Toronto (July 15).

“As I have been a part of Ed Carpenter Racing for the past couple of years, I know the history of Preferred Freezer Services with the team and I am honored to now drive a PFS car myself,” Pigot said. “We are fortunate to have such great partner in PFS who has been continually committed to helping the team grow and succeed. I am also excited for that extra bit of luck the PFS colors tend to bring ECR at Indianapolis.”

Preferred Freezer Services, a global leader in advanced design and engineered temperature-controlled warehouses, first teamed with Ed Carpenter Racing to field a second car in the 2014 Indianapolis 500. PFS has supported ECR’s month of May program each year since, serving as primary partner on five Indy 500 cars in the past four years. Of those five entries, four have produced top-10 finishes, including third place by Josef Newgarden in 2016.

The Preferred Freezer Services paint scheme this year will revert to a predominately blue tone, last seen on Newgarden’s car in the 2016 Indianapolis 500. PFS will continue as an associate on the No. 21 entry for all races this season in which it is not the primary sponsor.

The famous PFS polar bear will also adorn the No. 20 Fuzzy’s Vodka Chevrolet, driven by team owner Ed Carpenter in his six oval events.

“It is great to have Preferred Freezer back and to carry them on our cars all year long,” said Carpenter. “It is always ‘cool’ to have the giant polar bear around. We are proud to have a PFS car at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a fifth straight year.”
